The Alpha III is a vibrant neon-orange rocket, with a black panel-like body. The fins come pre-colored and molded into a single unit, so there is no cutting or alignment required! After the few steps required in construction, you can apply the self-adhesive orange wrap to give this rocket that neon finish.
The Alpha, and the namesake for the Alpha III, was one of the original model rocketry hits. The Alpha has been flown millions of times and has inspired generations of aerospace professionals. The Alpha III is bringing that powerful moment of pressing launch to even more people by removing some of the more complicated steps typically required in construction.
The Alpha III in the Classroom
If you’ve used the Alpha III in the classroom, you know the value and excitement that this rocket can bring to your students. It comes together quickly, only requiring a bit of adhesive to assemble the engine mount and attach the shock cord anchor in place.
On the launch pad, the Alpha III stands as a great demonstration of the true basics of rocketry. It shows just how simple a safe rocket can be. Each component has a purpose, and you can leverage those against the principles of flight to show how this small, simple rocket actually utilizes everything that would make a much larger rocket safe and stable in flight.
Included with this kit
Plastic Fin Unit
The fins for the Alpha III come as one single unit, removing the challenging steps of alignment and securing a fin to a body tube by the root chord. The fins being a single piece also make them far more durable, meaning the Alpha III will survive many flights, increasing the chances of success.
The Alpha III utilizes a parachute for recovery. It is intentionally small which means it is unlikely to drift long distances after the recovery system has been deployed.
Neon Vinyl Wrap
The neon color is applied through a vinyl decal wrap which is included with the kit, which means no painting or sanding is required! The smooth finish of the neon wrap gives this rocket a smooth surface for air to move over, and allows you to squeeze out every foot of altitude possible!
