The Viking’s unique design allows you to easily customize it’s appearance or drag profile while building. The fins can be attached using any edge as the root cord, and either 3, 4 or 5 fin configurations. This provides a total of 48 unique designs from this one rocket kit!
The Viking requires some light sanding, and there’s some use of adhesive allowing students to learn new skills. The Viking is the perfect stepping stone between beginner and more challenging rockets.
The Viking in the Classroom
The Viking provides a unique experience for your students, where no two rockets will come out alike. With the wide range of fin configurations, the Viking allows students to decide for themselves which is likely to provide the most altitude.
Where the Viking really shines is with drag comparison. Because it can be built with a wide variety of fin configurations, each rocket from your classroom is likely to perform differently. It gives students the ability to decide for themselves what is likely to perform the best, build it the way they want, and then test their hypothesis during the launch.
Included in this kit
Customizable Airframe
Each of these kits come with decals to give you a clean, ready-made aesthetic, however the airframe can easily be customized so each student can make it their own!
Laser-Cut Fin Sheets
This kit has laser-cut fin sheets so there is no cutting required, and everything comes out perfect. These are attached to the airframe by the root cord with a simple wood glue.
Recovery System
Each of these rockets utilize a streamer for recovery, making them ideal for flying in smaller fields. The streamer waves through the air, creating drag, and allowing this lightweight rocket to land safely. Experiment with streamers of different lengths to see how that impacts the descent rate!
Vibrant Decals
The Viking includes vibrant decals which help to make this rocket pop on the launch pad. They don’t help with altitude, but it feels like they could.
