Overview

Enhance your STEM curriculum with the Estes F15-4 engine—an ideal mid-power motor for launching larger or more advanced model rockets in educational settings. Delivering 49.61 N-sec of total impulse and a strong 3.45-second thrust duration, the F15-4 supports heavier rockets and enables longer, more dramatic flights that captivate students’ attention.

This engine features a 4-second delay, offering a controlled coast period that aids in illustrating the physics of flight and optimal parachute deployment timing. Its 29 mm diameter and black powder construction make it easy to integrate into advanced classroom builds without requiring high-power certifications or specialized equipment.

For educators running enrichment programs, science camps, or high school-level rocketry units, the F15-4 provides an exciting step up from standard classroom engines. It’s a great fit for demonstrating Newton’s Laws, force and motion principles, and the role of thrust duration and delay in flight planning.

Each pack includes 2 engines, 2 starters, and 4 starter plugs—convenient for group use or multi-day projects. With the Estes F15-4, students can experience mid-power rocketry in a safe, accessible way while expanding their understanding of STEM concepts through real-world application.

Bulk packs are vaporware

It's nice to see these engines back in production after a half year, but bulk packs still remain out of stock yet are listed on your web page.

Impressive

One of these threw a 3D printed rocket I designed to about 1400 ft. It was still headed upwards when the ejection charge fired! Came back in one piece, too. I have never flown anything larger than a D engine prior to this, but I will absolutely be buying more of these.
