Overview

The Estes F15-6 Engine is a powerful, mid-power motor tailored for educational environments where students are building and launching larger model rockets. With a total impulse of 49.61 N-sec and a maximum thrust of 25.26 Newtons, this 29 mm engine delivers smooth and extended thrust over 3.45 seconds—making it ideal for lessons in thrust duration, acceleration, and Newton’s laws of motion. Its balanced performance is especially suited for middle school to high school STEM curriculum and extracurricular rocket programs.

The 6-second delay allows rockets to coast after burnout, giving students the opportunity to study flight trajectory, altitude gain, and timed recovery deployment. This delay is particularly beneficial in reinforcing concepts around velocity, momentum, and aerodynamics. The F15-6 is compatible with rockets up to 17 oz (482 g), making it a strong choice for custom classroom rocket designs that need a bit more power and hang time before ejection.

This engine is a great fit for 29 mm engine mounts and provides a clear demonstration of advanced rocketry principles while maintaining safety and reliability in a controlled educational setting. The long thrust duration encourages experimentation and iteration in student-built models and supports a variety of hands-on learning outcomes.

Estes Education offers the F15-6 Engine as part of its commitment to delivering real-world, STEM-aligned learning tools that engage students in the science and engineering behind rocketry. With its long burn and mid-range delay, this engine bridges the gap between basic kits and more complex flight profiles, making it a versatile tool for educators and students alike.

Many years of ESTES fun

I think it was 1965 that I built my first rocket, it was a big Bertha and many .more. Now I'm interested in F series engine, single stage and multi stage rockets. Thank you for years of fun and I remember the price was a little less than now.LOL Ray Estess ps Cant wait to order.
