The Estes Roto Rocket STEM Kit turns rocketry into a lively, beginner-friendly learning experience for ages 10+. With straightforward assembly and simple launch procedures, it’s an ideal choice for classrooms, camps, and youth organizations. Students get a safe, structured introduction to aerospace while practicing real scientific thinking—predicting, testing, measuring, and improving.
Helicopter Recovery + Parachute Landing
After liftoff, the Roto Rocket soars to a projected 500 ft (152.4 m) on the included C5-3 and C6-3 engines. At apogee, the helicopter blades deploy and the top section descends in a graceful spin, while the body returns under a 12 in (30.5 cm) parachute. This dual-recovery sequence is visually engaging and ideal for teaching lift, drag, stability, and safe recovery techniques.
Five Ready-to-Teach STEM Activities
The kit includes five guided activities that explore the forces of flight with a focus on lift. Two different sets of helicopter blades invite experimentation: students compare descent rates, analyze how blade design affects performance, and investigate how fin angle interacts with airflow. Use the activities to structure pre-launch predictions, data collection, and post-launch reflection.
Built for Classrooms & Camps
Engineered for repeated group use, the Roto Rocket features molded plastic fins and self-stick decals for quick builds and reliable performance. Dimensions: length 24.85 in (63.11 cm), diameter 0.98 in (2.48 cm), weight 3.38 oz (95.8 g). Recommended launch system: Porta-Pad II with a 1/8 in (3.18 mm) launch rod.
Inspire Curiosity & Collaboration
Whether you’re a teacher, camp leader, or youth organization mentor, the Roto Rocket makes it easy to connect hands-on fun with core STEM concepts. Students design fair tests, time descents, graph results, and communicate findings—building teamwork and inquiry skills while experiencing the thrill of flight.
