Overview

The Estes C6-3 engine is a dependable and high-thrust motor ideal for classroom and STEM learning environments. With its short 3-second delay and consistent performance, it’s perfectly suited for rockets that benefit from quicker recovery system deployment—making it a smart choice for lessons that focus on flight dynamics, trajectory, and safe landings. Designed with educators and students in mind, the C6-3 helps bring real-world physics to life.

Featuring a total impulse of 10.00 Newton-seconds, this engine delivers impressive lift for medium-weight rockets while keeping recovery within a manageable range—ideal for use in schoolyards, open fields, or organized launch days. The 3-second delay offers a shorter coast phase before parachute deployment, supporting more controlled recoveries and quicker turnaround between launches.

Each C6-3 three-pack includes everything needed for ignition: three engines, starters, and starter plugs. Estes engines are built to meet strict quality and safety standards, ensuring a reliable flight experience for student-led experiments or group activities. It’s an accessible and exciting way to introduce rocketry fundamentals and Newton’s laws of motion in action.

The C6-3 is compatible with several Estes rocket kits designed for educational use that call for a C engine with a shorter delay. Whether you’re teaching aerospace concepts or building confidence in hands-on STEM applications, this engine delivers the reliability and power to elevate your classroom experience.

Replacement Engines

These were complimentary replacements for an engine that failed (CATO). Estes agreed to replace them, along with parts to repair my rocket (which is not from an Estes kit) with no fuss, and they arrived promptly.
