A great set for the true beginner

A great set for the true beginner. Great for young kids because the build experience is just enough. They get a little bit of a taste of building a rocket, that doesn’t take so long that they lose their attention and doesn’t require much dexterity or delicate gluing/sanding etc so it’s great for young kids.

A complaint is that there is not much guidance on how to effectively pack the wadding and streamer. It’s easy to get it too tight.The other is that the location at which the nose cone connects to the shock cord is not in the center of the nose cone therefore there’s a high risk for the shock cord to get pinched in between the tube and the nose cone when closing up the rocket for launch. Because this is designed for a real young kids, they don’t pay attention to a lot of details like this, so the risk of losing the rocket is higher without this kind of guidance or improvement in the design. These two factors combined set us up for losing two rockets because the recovery system didn’t deploy and the rocket nose dived straight into the Earth and crumpled up the tube entirely. Totally fixable with replacement tubes, but a little bit of a bummer.

Great STEM birthday party idea for my daughter's 9th Birthday. Kids worked in 3 teams of 4 testing out various fuelselage lengths and fin types. All worked flawlessly and fin changeout was a snap!
