Estes Star Weaver Flying Model Rocket

An Advanced Rocket for Deeper STEM Learning

The Star Weaver™ is built for learners who are ready to take the next step in model rocketry. As an advanced skill level kit, it gives students a more involved building experience while creating a natural connection to real aerospace concepts like staging, thrust, drag, stability, and recovery.

For educators, camp leaders, and youth organization instructors, the Star Weaver offers more than an exciting launch. It gives students a hands on opportunity to follow detailed instructions, make careful measurements, align components accurately, and see how their build choices affect performance on launch day.

Single Stage and Two Stage Flight Options

One of the most valuable learning features of the Star Weaver is its flexible flight configuration. Students can launch the upper stage as a single stage rocket using recommended 1/2A3-4T, A3-4T, or A3-6T engines, or configure the rocket for two stage flight with an A10-0T booster stage.

This makes it easy to turn launch day into a comparison activity. Students can observe the difference between single stage and two stage performance, discuss how staging affects altitude, and better understand why engine selection matters in model rocket design.

Built for Precision, Patience, and Skill Development

The Star Weaver is a rewarding project for advanced students because it asks them to build with care. Laser cut balsa wood fins support accurate assembly, while the rocket’s two different fin shapes encourage discussion around aerodynamics, visual design, and flight stability.

This is the kind of build that helps students slow down and think like engineers. From fin alignment to recovery prep, each step reinforces sequencing, problem solving, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

High Altitude Performance with Streamer Recovery

With projected altitudes up to 900 ft., the Star Weaver delivers the kind of performance that makes advanced rocketry exciting for students and leaders alike. Its lightweight 1 oz. design, 0.74 in. diameter, and 17.25 in. length help create fast, memorable flights that are easy to connect back to classroom and field based STEM lessons.

The streamer recovery system helps students track the rocket after apogee and supports efficient recovery for repeat flights. For advanced STEM programs, rocketry clubs, camps, and youth groups, the Star Weaver brings together skill building, flight analysis, and the excitement of launch in one standout model rocket.

Best Estes Rocket ive built so far

Ive recently gotten back into rocketry and the Star Weaver was the one of the first I've built since and definitely my first two stage. By far my favorite rocket of all time. It was fun to build and an absolute blast to watch fly. Being that it was my first two stage i was not sure what to track so i just tracked top stage and ended up losing bottom stage on my first launch.(Totally my fault) I still use it as a single stage but its amazing to watch when both stages work together. I might have to buy another one just for bottom stage.
