In The Classroom

The Estes Hyper Bat™ is ideal for classrooms, camps, and youth programs seeking a natural progression from entry level rockets into more advanced rocketry concepts. Designed as an intermediate level build, this two stage model helps students expand their understanding of how rockets fly while building confidence through hands on construction.

Assembling the Hyper Bat™ encourages careful planning, measurement, and attention to detail. Students experience the satisfaction of creating a complex model while developing practical skills that translate directly to engineering and problem solving activities in the classroom.

Design That Sparks Curiosity and Engagement

The Hyper Bat™ immediately captures attention with its dramatic bat wing shaped laser cut balsa fins and bold black and white color scheme. Its distinctive appearance makes it a natural conversation starter and helps students feel excited and invested in the project from the moment they begin building.

The unique fin geometry creates opportunities for discussion around aerodynamics, stability, and how design choices impact flight. Educators can use the visual design as a springboard for inquiry based learning both before and after launch.

Explore Single Stage and Two Stage Flight

One of the strongest educational features of the Hyper Bat™ is its flexibility. Students can begin by flying the rocket as a single stage to establish baseline performance and become familiar with launch procedures and recovery.

From there, the rocket can be configured for two stage flight, allowing students to observe staging events, compare altitude gains, and analyze how additional propulsion affects performance. With recommended engine combinations, the Hyper Bat™ can reach projected altitudes of up to 2,125 feet, providing exciting real world data to support classroom discussion and analysis.

Reliable Recovery for Repeat Learning

The Hyper Bat™ uses a 12 inch parachute recovery system designed to support safe landings and repeated flights. This makes it well suited for group environments where rockets may be flown multiple times across different sessions or class periods.

The lightweight design and laser cut balsa fins balance performance with durability, helping the rocket withstand normal classroom use when built and flown properly. Reliable recovery allows students to focus on learning outcomes rather than worrying about lost or damaged models.

Materials, Preparation, and Classroom Use

Some assembly is required and adult supervision is recommended, especially for younger students. Programs will need basic building tools, adhesives, finishing supplies, a launch system, recovery wadding, and Estes engines, all sold separately.

A limited number of kits include a limited edition Estes Hyper Bat self stick sticker, which can be used as a student incentive, reward, or keepsake while supplies last. This small addition helps reinforce excitement and gives students a tangible reminder of their hands on learning experience.

Lives up to its name

Love the concept. My daughter loves bats so I bought the HyperBat for her. A two stage rocket for greater heights. Goes together pretty easy, just take your time getting the motors in the booster to login up with the second stage. If I were to change anything it would be the grain direction on the booster fins. The go down at a 45 degree angle from the tube and are very easy to break off. O actually put a tapered brace 1/32 X 2 inches across both sides of fins to reinforce them. With its interesting profile it lives up to its name.
